This policy explains what Brand My Mac Keycaps (keycap.bid) collects when you use the auction, and why. The site is run by Sushil. Questions: hello@keycap.bid or @sushilwtf.
What we collect
When you place a bid we store:
- Your email address
- Brand name, website, optional tagline, and optional X handle
- The logo or lockup you upload, or the icon we fetch from your site
- Your bid amount and the 20% deposit Stripe charged
Stripe collects payment details on their checkout page. We never see your full card number. We keep Stripe checkout and payment IDs so we can confirm the deposit, refund you if you are outbid, and invoice the remaining 80% if you still hold the key when the clock ends.
If you paste a website, our server fetches public page metadata (name, tagline, icon) so the bid form can fill itself. We do not log into that site.
What we use it for
- Run the auction and show the current holder on the keyboard
- Send a payment receipt and an outbid notice (via Resend, from hello@keycap.bid)
- Review artwork before it goes on a key
- Refund deposits and collect the remaining balance from winners
- Rate-limit abuse using your IP address (not shown publicly)
We do not sell your data or use it for ads.
What is public
After a bid is approved, the brand name, logo, tagline, website, and bid amount can appear on this site (keyboard, live bids, hover cards). Your email is never shown on the public board.
Cookies
Bidders do not need an account. We do not set tracking or advertising cookies. A staff-only cookie is used if I sign in to review artwork. Stripe may set cookies on their checkout page — that is covered by Stripe's privacy policy.
Who else sees it
- Stripe — payments, refunds, and invoices
- Resend — transactional email
- The host that runs this site and the database that stores bids
They only get what they need to do that job.
How long we keep it
Bid records stay for as long as we need them to run the auction, print vinyl, handle refunds, and keep a simple record of who won. You can ask us to delete or correct your email and unused uploads after the auction. We may keep payment records where the law or Stripe requires it.
Your choices
Email hello@keycap.bid to see, correct, or delete personal data we hold, or to ask us to stop sending auction emails. Outbid and receipt mail is part of placing a bid — if you do not want those, do not bid.
Children
This auction is for people 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
